A large brush fire in a New Jersey state park is to blame for a pervasive odor of smoke permeating a large swath of New York City this morning. The NY Office of Emergency Management announced this morning that "due to a brush fire in the Wharton State Park in New Jersey, residents in Staten Island & Brooklyn may smell smoke." The park, which measures over 120,000 acres, is located about 80 miles southwest of the city.
