Election Day is here and polls are now open across New Jersey, New York City, and Connecticut. Polls close at 8pm in New Jersey and Connecticut and 9pm in NYC.
There are two major races everyone will have their eyes on. NYC will be electing its first new mayor in 12 years. Democrat Bill de Blasio and Republican Joe Lhota square off in what is widely expected to be a landslide victory for de Blasio. The Democratic candidate has consistently led by 40 or more percentage points in recent polls.
A landslide victory is also possible in New Jersey's race for governor. Current Gov. Chris Christie has been holding a lead of anywhere from 20 to 36 points in recent polls according to NJ.com. Despite New Jersey having a large amount of Democratic voters, Christie is expected to win easily today.
