Prospect Park will be closed today from 12pm to 6pm so helicopters can land as President Obama is in town for fundraising visits and a trip to Brooklyn’s Pathways in Technology Early College High School where he will give a speech.
Originally it was believed the entire park would be closed, but according to the New York Daily News, officials said only parts of the park will be closed. However, no one is sure which parts of the park will be open. It also remains unclear if the park's West Side Drive will be affected.
Gothamist is reporting that Green-Wood Cemetary is opening its gates to runners who will be unable to job in Prospect Park during Obama's visit. Runners will be able to run on the grounds from noon to 6pm on Friday, but are asked to show the proper respect to those who are grieving and visiting the final resting places of their loved ones.
