Brrrr... it's cold out there!

Tonight, while tuned in to my show, I invite you to get creative with me in the kitchen... and make this spicy vegetable soup.... which I promise will warm your soul, and nourish you completely while you snuggle up with a hot steamy bowl and listen to our love songs, all night long!



1 stick butter

1/4 cup olive oil

2 large carrots
3 stalks celery
1 medium yellow onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
1-1/2 cups cauliflower florets, cut small
1 can green chilies
1 cup kale, cut into pieces
1 cup spinach, cut into pieces
2 Tbsp. cilantro, chopped
1 medium jalapeno, seeded
1 can diced tomatoes
2 cups potatoes, quartered
3 to 4 cups veggie/tomato juice or V8
4 boxes vegetable (or chicken) broth

Salt, cracked black pepper, red pepper flakes, green tabasco (and Siracha to taste).


In a heavy pot or pan, melt butter and olive oil over medium heat. Add carrots, celery, onion, jalapeno and sautée until veggies are starting to get tender. Add garlic, broth, kale, green chilies and spinach, stir to blend.  

Add seasonings to taste and simmer on low heat for 1/2 hour. Add cauliflower, potatoes, tomato juice and season to taste. Continue to simmer until veggies and potatoes are tender; make sure you taste this soup every so often since the veggies and potatoes will absorb a lot of the salt and pepper. Serve with something to dip into it, and enjoy!
