While on vacation, Carolina Ledezma gave birth to her son, Alejandro, extremely premature. During our Hope For The Holidays Radiothon, Helen Little and Nina Del Rio sat down to talk with Carolina about how Hassenfeld Children's Hospital at NYU Langone saved Alejandro's life.
Alejandro was diagnosed with Sturge-Weber syndrome after meeting with Dr. Bluvstein. Sturge-Weber is a vascular disorder that effects brains and causes seizures. He has had two brain surgeries to mitigate damage from seizures.
Alejandro is now five years old and is in kindergarten. He is non verbal, but loves facetiming with his grandparents. "If you're looking for a miracle, we are a different kind of miracle" says Carolina.
