Memorial Day Weekend is upon us and the temperatures will be going up. It's a great time to try this simple homemade ice cream recipe. I tried it and was so surprised at not only how easy it was, but also how delicious it was. All you need is a Mason Jar and 4 basic ingredients. I added a fifth ingredient of fruit, a ripe banana because banana ice cream is my favorite. You'll make three servings so double the recipe if you want more.
Homemade Mason Jar Ice Cream
A 16 ounce Mason Jar
1 cup of heavy cream
1.5 tablespoons of granulated sugar
1.5 teaspoons of vanilla extract
A pinch of salt
(Optional fruit, nuts, jam, etc)
Put all your ingredients in the jar and then shake it for about five minutes or a little longer for more volume. The contents will thicken and almost double in size. Place it in the freezer to harden, then voila! You've got homemade ice cream!
