Doctors Inspire St. John’s Student To Become A Pediatrician

Doctors at Hassenfeld Children's Hospital inspired a St. John's student, Cherish Joseph, to become a pediatrician after spending time so much time at the hospital with her cousin, Zemayra.

Five-year-old Zemayra was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a rare cancer of the nervous system, and has been receiving treatment at Hassenfeld Children's Hospital since January. Various therapies at the hospital such as art helps make the five-year-old feel more normal.

After all of these months spending time in the hospital, Cherish tells Helen and Nina that she feels close to doctors at NYU Langone. The St. John's student majoring in biomedical sciences hopes to become a pediatrician one day. Check out the full interview in the player above.
