New York City comes alive during the holidays, offering a spectacular lineup of Christmas music events and traditions. Here are some of the highlights for 2024:
- Radio City Christmas Spectacular: The Rockettes continue their dazzling tradition, blending music, dance, and festive spirit at Radio City Music Hall. Performances run through the holiday season, making it a perfect family outing.
- Sounds Of The Season at Lincoln Center: Join the New York Philharmonic for an enchanting evening of holiday classics on December 14th and 15th. These family-friendly matinees will feature music from the classical canon (think Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker), popular hits (such as Irving Berlin’s White Christmas), and festive songs from around the world (from Leroy Anderson’s Sleigh Ride to South Africa’s Sizalelwe Indodana).
- Caroling at Washington Square Park: Gather under the iconic Washington Square Arch on Christmas Eve, December 24th, for a joyful evening of caroling. This year marks the 100th Anniversary of this event. Open to all, this event captures the community spirit of the season.
- Broadway's Elf The Musical: Elf The Musical, opened on Broadway this November at The Marquis Theatre for the limited engagement through Saturday, January 4, 2025. See the holiday classic come to life on Broadway - get tickets here.
- 2024 Rockefeller Center Tree Lighting: A cornerstone of New York's holiday celebrations, the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting takes place on Wednesday, December 4th. Hosted by Kelly Clarkson, the ceremony will feature performances by top artists and the lighting of the majestic Norway spruce adorned with 50,000 LED lights. The festivities start at 7 PM and are broadcast live on NBC and Peacock. The 2024 Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree will be lit daily from 5am to midnight. On Christmas Eve the tree will be lit for 24 hours and on New Year's Eve it will be lit from 5am-9pm. The Tree will be on view through mid-January.
- Bryant Park Winter Village: Enjoy live performances and carolers as you skate at the iconic rink or shop for unique gifts at the holiday market. This year the annual tree lighting takes place on Tuesday, December 3 at 6pm featuring: Tony Award winning performer Lea Salonga and performances by world-class skaters Mirai Nagasu, Ashley Cain, Kaitlin Hawayek, Jean-Luc Baker, Ryan Bradley, Ice Theatre of New York, Figure Skating in Harlem, and The Skyliners.
- Elf in Concert at Lincoln Center: This holiday season, rediscover this heartwarming classic as John Debney’s wonderful score is played live by the NY Philarmonic while the film plays on the big screen. See Elf in Concert at Lincoln Center from December 19-December 22.
