New York City Hiring Snow Laborers For $15/Hour

As New York City prepares for upcoming "blizzard like" conditions, a lot of help will be needed in the next coming days to clear the streets as there is an expected 14 inches of snowfall. 

The pay is $15 per hour and increases to $22.50/hour after 40 hours worked, according to the city. If interested, you can register with the city at any sanitation garage between 7am-3pm on Monday through Saturday, according to the city's website. Laborers must be at least 18 years of age, eligible to work in the U.S. , and able to perform heavy physical labor. 

Applicants must bring the following with them to register

  • Two small photos like a Passport picture (1.5 inch)
  • Social security card

Two forms of identification such as

  • Drivers license
  • Passport 
  • School photo ID
  • IDNYC card

  • Bronx Yard Mosholu Ave. and Broadway (Van Cortlandt Park) Bronx, NY
  • Kew Loop Yard 78-88 Park Drive East Queens, NY
  • Harper Street Yard 32-11 Harper Street Queens, NY


The winter storm warning will go in effect at midnight and last until 6pm on Thursday. Forecasts indicate that areas could receive 8-12 inches of snow. Stay safe!
