This Is What Cher Really Eats In A Day To Stay Fit

Last weekend at the Billboard Music Awards, Cher took the stage to perform two of her greatest hits, and the audience was mesmerized about how great the pop icon looks age 71. During her set, the singer revealed that she can hold a five-minute plank! "Icon", is definitely right.

After finding this out, we had to learn what Cher does to maintain her figure and her secrets to healthy aging!

She sticks to a vegetarian diet.

Cher told her Twitter followers that she doesn't care for ham or read meat, and sticks to veggie alternatives instead.

She doesn't smoke or drink.

In addition to being a strict vegetarian, Cher knows the importance of keeping your body healthy so she'll rarely indulge in a drink or partake in any drugs.

In 2013 she told Closer, "Being healthy has always been part of my life. It just works for me. There are things I don't like that are unhealthy, like drugs and drinking, so I never got into them to begin with. I smoked cigarettes for a while and I'd have done drugs had I liked them, but they didn't agree with me. I'll only drink three of four times a year too."

She too has binged (don't worry, we all do it!)

Cher admits that sometimes on film sets, she occasionally binges on unhealthy treats from craft services.

"I have had some bad binges while making movies. At the end of The Witches of Eastwick, Michelle Pfeiffer, Susan Sarandon and I really went crazy. We'd go from one of our trailers to the other stuffing ourselves with Pepperidge Farm Cheddar Cheese Goldfish, M&Ms, Cokes and Hershey's Kisses," she wrote in her 1991 book Forever Fit. "Then Michelle and I found out we could microwave sweet potatoes in four minutes, and that changed our entire lives. We lived on sweet potatoes, baked potatoes and Caesar salads."

She eats foods that give her energy.

Take a glimpse into Cher's pantry and notice the healthy foods she keeps it stocked with! Cher shows no signs of slowing down as she still is performing and touring, so she needs to keep up her energy.

"I've been concentrating on eating the foods that Robert [Haas, her co-author] has stressed as being terrific: brown rice (not white rice), legumes — lentils, pinto, navy, lima and kidney beans—vegetables, pastas, fruit," she wrote. "Pastas give me a lot of energy, and so do fruits like bananas, papaya and nectarines, because they have a lot of sugar but it isn't refined."

Know what keeps you in shape.

Cher's favorite exercise is typically surfing, but she's also a major gym goer!

"You have to work twice as hard. You have to be in the gym all the time," she told E! News in 2010. "But I like it. When I was young I was a tomboy. I played sports ... And I'm learning to surf right now. I like that kind of stuff, thank God."

She works out five times a week.

Her workout routine may sound insane, but it's proven effective for the singer. We could definitely learn from her example!

If Cher can do this all at 71 years old, we certainly need to give it a try.
