David McInerney Explains Why FreshDirect is Great for Kids and Families

David McInerney, co-founder of FreshDirect, stopped by LITE FM to hang out with Christine Nagy and talk about all things food. During his visit, he spoke about founding the online grocery store that delivers to residences and offices in the New York City area, as well as what makes this company so special. Since the company was founded, David has been very involved with the company on many levels, but especially when it comes to where and how they get their food. He's even been known as FreshDirect's "chief food adventurer" due to his travels around the world in search for the freshest and finest ingredients for FreshDirect.

While FreshDirect is a great service for people of all ages, David spoke to the fact that it's especially beneficial for families with young children. "It's a pretty big focus for us at FreshDirect because so many of our customers are families and the reality is cooking dinner and breakfast every day is hard and it takes a fair amount of work," David told Christine. "Our model allows that to be a little bit easier. I talk to a lot of people who are cooking and they just don't know what to do each day." By eliminating the time-consuming grocery store visits and giving customers so many options, FreshDirect makes this process so much easier.

Another way FreshDirect is good for families with kids, David points out, is that their food tastes good. When it comes to kids, taste is definitely the most important thing when it comes to cooking their meals. "Everybody wants their kids to eat healthy produce, but that produce actually has to taste good. Getting better, flavorful tasting food and making it easier for people to put a meal together hopefully will get more people together around the table at home."
