The Museum Of The Dog To Open In New York City

Dog lovers everywhere are heading to NYC for the Museum of the Dog opening. The American Kennel Club Museum of the Dog is to debut in midtown Manhattan on February 8th. Located at 101 Park Avenue in the Kalikow Building, the museum will host one of the world's largest collections of canine fine art.

February 8th, marks the return of the museum to New York after a 32-year absence. The museum had moved to West St. Louis County, Missouri, over that time period.

“This museum is a beautiful ode to man’s best friend and we are thrilled to bring these pieces and exhibitions to new audiences,” says Alan Fausel, executive director of AKC Museum of the Dog.

The museum will hold several hundred paintings, drawings, watercolors, sculptures, decorative art objects and more showing dogs throughout history. Famous artists like Edwin Landseer, Maud Earl and Arthur Wardle will have works of art on display.

The first exhibition will be called “For the Love of All Things Dog.”

There is even going to be an interactive gallery exhibit for you to "Find Your Match." The kiosk will take a visitor's photo to determine with AKC-registered dog breed he or she looks like.

Grab your dog loving friends and head to the Museum of the Dog in February!
