The Creator Of 'Friends' Just Revealed If A Reboot Is Happening

If you've been holding out hope for a Friends reboot, then I have some bad news for you. Marta Kauffman, the creator of the beloved '90s sitcom, just shut down all the speculation about the gang getting back together.

During an interview with Rolling Stone, Kauffman explained why a reboot isn't in the cards for Friends. “There are several reasons. One, the show is about a time in your life when your friends are your family. It’s not that time anymore. All we’d be doing is putting those six actors back together, but the heart of the show would be gone," she explained. "Two, I don’t know what good it does us. The show is doing just fine, people love it. [A reunion] could only disappoint. ‘The One Where Everyone’s Disappointed.'”

Though Kauffman says a reboot is a no-go, Jennifer Aniston has actually expressed interest in revisiting the show and role that made her a household name in the past. Not only is Aniston interested, Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow are, as well. The only downside? David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, and Matthew Perry did share their enthusiasm. “The girls always say we would love to do it again, and the boys are a little less excited about it for some reason,” she said. “We [could] just give it some time and then Lisa, Courteney and I could reboot Golden Girls and spend our last years together on wicker furniture.”

While a Friends reboot is off the table for now, we'll keep our fingers crossed for that Golden Girls spinoff with Rachel, Monica, and Phoebe.
