Queen Latifah, Shaggy & Auli'i Cravalho Announced For 'Little Mermaid Live'

ABC is set to bring The Little Mermaid Live! to the small screen and the network has announced the cast for the upcoming broadway.

On Monday (August 5), it was revealed that Auli’i Cravalho (who voiced the main character in the hit film Moana) will play Ariel, while Queen Latifah will portray Ursula and Shaggy will take duties as Sebastian. First announced in 2017, the production was temporarily shelved, but it appears to be worth the wait as it'll feature live musical performances from the cast interwoven with puppetry and scenes from the original 1989 film.

"If it works, I expect we will do more of them and we will work closely with the feature department about timing," President of Entertainment, Karey Burke said, in a statement. The Wonderful World of Disney Presents The Little Mermaid Live! is scheduled to air November 5 at 8 PM to commemorate the Disney animated film's 30th anniversary.

This is not to be confused with the upcoming live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid, which will see Halle Bailey portray Ariel in the film, while Awkwafina will handle as her seagull pal Scuttle and Jacob Tremblay will serve as her fish companion Flounder.
