Tornado Hits Springfield, New Jersey

A tornado blew through Springfield, New Jersey, causing a big scare for residents.

Torrential rain and 70 mile per hour winds tore through the area, as the tornado touched down at 2:45 on Wednesday in the area of Route 22 and Springfield Avenue. It brought down power lines and caused flash flooding throughout the area.

At one point, thousands were without power. At least one tree was also brought to the ground by the tornado.

On Thursday, the cleanup and assessment of the damage begins.
