Florida Man Disguised As Woman Robs Bank, Steals Patrol Car: Cops

A 51-year-old man from Florida is facing a laundry list of charges after he allegedly robbed a bank and stole a patrol car while disguised as a woman. Police say that Gumersindo Reyes Jr. walked into a Chase Bank wearing a gold dress and red wig and ordered the teller to give him money.

He left with $1,000 in cash but was confronted by a Seminole County deputy who happened to be in the area. The officer tried to subdue Reyes with a stun gun, but he managed to escape and fled to a nearby apartment complex.

The officer drew his gun and ordered Reyes to get on the ground. Reyes refused to follow the deputy's commands and tried to take the gun away from him. After a brief struggle, Reyes managed to get away from the officer and stole his patrol car.

"There's nothing that drives me crazier than to see a 'bad guy,' or know that a 'bad guy' got behind the wheel of one of our patrol vehicles, even for just one moment," Seminole County Sheriff Dennis Lemma said. "I'm OK that he was in the car, but he was sitting in the wrong seat."

Reyes led authorities on a dangerous high-speed chase through two counties. The chase finally came to end after Reyes crashed the car. He was taken into custody and was charged with battery on an officer, resisting an officer with violence and robbery with a firearm.

Reyes has a criminal record in Puerto Rico, where he was charged with attempted murder and robbery.
