Patti LuPone, Ben Platt & More Join Forces For Powerful Broadway Tribute

Broadway biggest names joined forces to pay tribute to Broadway and New York City during Rise Up New York!: A Benefit for Robin Hood Relief.

Broadway legends, Barbra Streisand, Patti LuPone, and Audra McDonald, shared their feelings as Broadway theaters remain dark,

“It was painful to think of all that creative energy was suddenly shutdown" Streisand expressed. “When I woke up on March 12, I didn’t know that I had played my last performance of 'Company' the night before" LuPone continued. "It truly is a very special and vital community,” McDonald concluded.

Then, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Cynthia Erivo, Chris Jackson, Idina Menzel, Karen Olivo, Ben Platt, and Andrew Rannells teamed up to perform the classic tune, "New York, New York." Miranda introduced the performance sharing inspiring words about his favorite city,

"You know why I love this city? Because there’s no one New York. There's hundreds of neighborhoods each with its own flavor. Mine will always be Washington Heights... We can do this! All of us. Every city, every neighborhood and every neighbor."

The Rise Up New York City! Robin Hood Relief Benefit raised awareness and funds to help New Yorkers most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The show brought together New York City's biggest musicians, actors, chefs and more with one common goal: to raise funds for Robin Hood's relief and recovery efforts, deployed directly to the organizations on the frontlines that serve the city's most vulnerable during the current crisis and its aftermath.
