Governor Cuomo Announces NYC Indoor Dining To Resume On September 30

With fall and colder weather on the horizon, many New Yorkers have been wondering if the state would allow indoor dining to resume in the city.

As of Wednesday (September 9), Governor Cuomo has announced that city restaurants will be able to serve customers indoors again starting on September 30th.

Indoor dining has been closed in the five boroughs since March. The reopening comes with a number of restrictions and follows the resumption of indoor dining in every other region of New York State and in New Jersey.

City restaurants will be limited to 25% capacity indoors. Restaurants must also administer temperature checks to patrons at the door, and one person of each party must leave information for possible contact tracing.

All tables indoors must be six feet apart. Restaurants must meet the state's air filtration requirements. Masks must be worn any time indoors, except when diners are at their tables. No bar service is allowed, and restaurants must close by midnight.

With indoor dining reopening something else that is on the minds of New Yorkers is whether or not Broadway will be able to open their doors soon. When asked during a press conference about the possible reopening of Broadway theaters he expressed that as of right now he has no information on a timeline for reopening them, “I don’t have any additional information, we’ll see how it goes.”
