Nykia Crawford - Nursing, for me, has always been more than a career path. It’s a calling rooted in compassion, resilience, and purpose. I’ve always been the person people naturally turn to for comfort, guidance, and strength during difficult moments. That instinct to care, to listen, and to uplift others is what led me to pursue nursing. My journey hasn’t been easy, but every challenge strengthened my determination. As a mother and a student, I learned how to balance responsibility with ambition, showing myself and my children what perseverance truly looks like. Nursing allows me to combine my natural empathy with clinical skill, giving me the ability to make a real difference in people’s lives not just physically, but emotionally and mentally as well. I am passionate about creating safe, supportive spaces for patients, where they feel heard, valued, and cared for beyond their diagnosis.

Kymnyque Ricks - I’m a single mom of 2 children who are my world, my everything. I’m the eldest of 3 children and the only girl! I’ve worked in the medical field since I was 19. My love for the medical field started extremely early as I remember bringing my father’s medical books for show and tell in kindergarten as I was so fascinated with the human body and injuries that occurred. Being born into a family where my mom is a dental hygienist, my father a retired EMT, my grandmother a nurse as well with other members being in the medical field. I strongly believe it was embedded in my heart to follow the same path. During nursing school, I was diagnosed with Triple negative breast cancer. Despite my diagnosis and trials ahead I continued school, not missing a beat. Despite the symptoms of the chemotherapy I was receiving on a weekly basis, I still came to class. Happy to announce almost 2 years of treatments, I am cancer free. I had the opportunity to finish my treatments in its entirety just in time to finish my last quarter of school, healthy and strong! During my battle I was able to share my journey with my classmates and instructors, showing them despite the obstacle that you as given, long as you have a positive mind set along with a strong support system all while keeping God first, you can get through anything.
