Leslie Odom Jr. is ready to “groove” this holiday season!
Like all of us, Leslie Odom Jr.’s busy life was suddenly halted back in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Hamilton star was touring his second studio album, Mr., when the whole country shutdown. Flash forward, 2-3 months later, the Tony Award winner was ready to get back to work and recorded his second Christmas album, The Christmas Album.
Leslie described the holiday album to Cubby and Christine, “After 'Hamilton,' if you could believe it or not, the thing I hear the most about in my career is my first Christmas album. We wanted to make something else for that audience, for the people that loved that first album, but I did want this one to groove more. That first one is sentimental and emotional and that’s where I was as an artist this time. You can dance a little more to this one than the first one.”
The Christmas Album was released last Friday, November 6th, and features 11 songs with two originals written by Odom Jr. The album also features collaborations with Nicolette Robinson, Cynthia Erivo and the Mazansi Youth Choir.
