Patrick Page Talks First Tony Nomination for Broadway's 'Hadestown'

On this week's Inside Broadway podcast, Michael Riedel speaks with Patrick Page about this first Tony nomination for Hadestown.

"They didn't tell me when they gave me the nomination that it's a full time job in addition to the 8 shows you're doing a week. For example, on the day of the Tony's, we have a 6:30 am call at the Walter Kerr theatre to get dressed and to go and rehearse the full dress rehearsal of the Tony's all morning. Then we come back to our theatre and do our matinee then we go do the Tony's and then we do the three parties after the Tony's!"

Later, Page chats about how hard it is to write a "serious musical" and why he had stopped singing for thirty years. The 73rd annual Tony Award ceremony will take place at Radio City Music Hall in New York on June 9, and air on the CBS Television Network on from 8:00-11:00 PM. The ceremony will be hosted by Tony and Emmy winner andThe Late Late Showhost, James Corden.
