NYPD Officer's Widow Gives Birth to Their Baby After His Death

Two-and-a-half years after Detective Wenjian Liu, 32, was killed in the line of duty, the NYPD News announced that his widow gave birth to their child. The night Liu was killed his wife, Sanny Liu, requested the hospital preserve her husband's semens so that they could become parents one day. Through IVF, she was able to get pregnant late last year!

Maria Dziergowski, a woman whose NYPD husband was also killed, told the New York Post the day Sanny was inseminated, "she had a dream that Wenjian was there in a white gown looking like an angel and that he handed her a baby, and he said, 'It's a girl, a little angel,'" despite not even knowing she was pregnant. "So [she] knew before everyone that it was a girl."

Detective Liu's legacy can now live on through his daughter. Sanny can't wait to tell baby Angelina that her father was a hero and introduce her to the New York City Police department who she refers to as her 'big blue family'.

We wish them well!
