Taylor Swift's major big screen acting debut in Tom Hooper's Cats is very on-brand for the pop titan and now we have the very first look at the upcoming film.
On Wednesday (July 17), the first big screen movie adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber's hit musical hit unveiled a behind-the-scenes featurette and it's full of teasers ahead of the film's release. In the montage, Swift, who plays Bombalurina, one of the principal cat characters, as well as a number of other stars likes Idris Elba, Rebel Wilson, Ian McKellen, James Corden and Jason Derulo, speak about their experience on-set. Most notably, the clip also includes scenes of Swift rehearsing for a dance number alongside Elba, who plays the villain cat Macavity. "I came right off of a stadium tour and went right into rehearsals," Swift says in the video. "People coming together through all different corners of entertainment...Everybody's working really long hours, rehearsing every day, and it's fun."
Swift also revealed that the upcoming film updates the age-old story in ways that is certainly going to excite longtime Cats fans. "We got to update it in ways that I think are just so, so, so great," she continues.
Expect more from Cats when the film's first trailer drops on Friday. Swift previously teased the trailer in a Twitter post, which shows a bedazzled margarita shaker with the word "catnip" across the side. Click here for more on that. Cats hits theaters on December 20, 2019.
