It seems as though Peter Luger Steak House in Brooklyn has "lost its sizzle."
New York Times columnist Pete Wells burns the overpriced South Williamsburg steak house in a zero-star review of the restaurant. The establishment originally opened in Brooklyn in 1887 and was regarded as the original New York City steak house. However, now, the critic details that Peter Luger has continued to decline in quality and service, yet, has retained the extremely high menu prices. Wells poses the question; "who really needs to go to Peter Luger, and start to think the answer is nobody."
The list of complaints go on and on:
"The management seems to go out of its way to make things inconvenient... The shrimp cocktail tastes like cold latex dipped in ketchup and horseradish... The German fried potatoes are mushy, dingy, gray and sometimes cold... Was the Caesar salad always so drippy, the croutons always straight out of a bag, the grated cheese always so white and rubbery?
Pete Wells is not the only one who feels this way about the eatery. People have taken to Twitter with reactions to the zero-star review, some have even agreed with Wells.
