If you’re dreaming of a magical getaway that blends Southern charm, natural beauty, and luxurious experiences, let me introduce you to one of my favorite destinations—Amelia Island!
Our home base for this unforgettable escape? The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island—a stunning oceanfront resort where Southern hospitality meets peaceful waves and white sand beaches. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed into a coastal haven that felt like a warm hug from the sea.
The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island
Located on 13 miles of pristine coastline, this resort is the ultimate escape from the everyday. The views, the comfort, the service—it’s all truly next level. And with a brand new Spa & Wellness Center, you’ll feel pampered and renewed from the inside out. CBD-infused treatments, Theralight 360, and Yoga Nidra? Yes, please!
One of our highlights was dining at Salt—now beautifully reimagined with a chic new look and the world-class cuisine of Chef Okan Kizilbayir. From the stunning presentation to the unforgettable flavors, Salt is a must-visit for foodies and romantics alike.
Couple’s Fire in the Dunes
Imagine sipping cocoa and roasting marshmallows at your own private bonfire on the beach, waves gently crashing nearby. That’s exactly what we experienced at the Couple’s Fire in the Dunes—and let me tell you, it was pure magic.
Follow That Dream Sailing Cruise
We had the most dreamy afternoon aboard the “Follow That Dream” catamaran. At 41 feet long and 24 feet wide, there was so much space to lounge, laugh, and take in the breathtaking views of Amelia and Cumberland Islands. Thank you to Captain Bud and Mir for such a peaceful, unforgettable cruise.
Have you ever ridden horseback on the beach? It's as magical as it sounds. I rode Star, and Eric rode Thunder—brother and sister horses who were gentle, loving, and so well-trained. An absolute dream!
Historic Trolley Tour with Anchor Trolleys
We explored the rich history of Fernandina Beach from the comfort of a trolley, passing through Downtown, Old Town, and the charming Silk Stocking District. A lovely way to take in the story of the island while soaking up the sunshine.
David’s Restaurant & Lounge might have been the best meal we’ve ever had! Every dish was a work of art.
We enjoyed the freshest seafood at The Patio at 5th & Ash, all beneath twinkling lights and the gentle sway of moss-draped oaks. It was coastal charm at its most enchanting.
The Fernandina Beach Market Place Farmers’ Market is filled with local treasures and artisan goodies.
More Island Charm
- The Decantery: A stylish lounge with wines on tap and the dreamiest desserts.
- The Palace Saloon: The oldest bar in Florida—steeped in history and stories!
- PJD’s Beer and Wine Garden: A funky, friendly spot perfect for a casual night out with live music and local flavor.
History buffs and nature lovers will fall in love with Fort Clinch. This beautifully preserved Civil War fort offers sweeping views and a glimpse into another era—absolutely worth the visit.
Dinner at Lagniappe was an absolute delight. Chef Brian Grimley brings the Louisiana French Creole term “lagniappe”—which means “a little something extra”—to life in every bite. Eric loved the fresh shrimp, while I enjoyed a perfectly prepared chicken dish that was bursting with flavor. Every detail, from the presentation to the ambiance, made the meal feel like a special occasion.
Every moment on Amelia Island felt like a page out of a storybook. Whether you’re looking for romance, relaxation, or a little adventure, there’s something here for everyone. I truly can’t wait to go back—and I hope you’ll fall in love with it just like we did.
With love and sunshine,
Christine
